Would you like to know why I’ve been AWOL here?
One word. One polysyllabic monster into whose gaping maw my free and otherwise time falls, shrieking for help.
In America we would call it “vacation” or even “break.” in Korea it’s time to do extra school outside of regular school, and if you do not work in a regular school, “vacation” is when the schedules all simultaneously contract Tourette’s and epilepsy. So to speak.
Anyway, we’re one week into it, with two more to go. It may interest you to know that I, a 24-year-old with a Master’s in Literature and zero education-specific training, am part of a TESOL Certification program, where I am teaching 33 full-fledged Korean elementary school teachers about classroom management. Irony, thy name is DGEV.
